For Loved Ones, Adventures, and Good Eats March 20, 2009 – November 28, 2024
Ezra Isaiah Spector lived a beautifully courageous life of only 15 years, during which he touched countless hearts with his adventurous spirit, unwavering independence, and gentle kindness. Despite spending nearly a third of his life undergoing aggressive cancer treatment, Ezra faced every challenge with strength, finding joy and pleasure even in the toughest circumstances.
Ezra loved building with Legos, diving into fantasy worlds through his favorite novels, savoring delicious—often spicy—foods, and spending time watching his favorite shows. He cherished crafting intricate Lego projects and creating meals in the kitchen, accomplishments that brought him immense pride.
Family and friends were at the heart of Ezra’s life. He enjoyed many gatherings and adventures with his loved ones, and always found a way to connect meaningfully with those around him. He was a loyal friend, engaging in playful banter and always supporting his friends when it truly mattered. Ezra had a unique ability to challenge ideas thoughtfully, encouraging those around him to be more mindful in their interactions.
Ezra’s adventurous spirit led him on journeys far and wide, from California and Nevada to Tennessee and Mexico. He was a wonderful travel companion, sharing his curiosity and enthusiasm every step of the way. He embraced life fully, thriving in creative endeavors both large and small.
Ezra loved his family dearly and asked that his life be celebrated with a potluck gathering as part of his funeral services. He wished to be composted, with the fertile soil used to grow pepper plants—an enduring tribute to his love for good food and the people he held close.
Ezra lived a tragically short life, but he was showered with love and opportunities by those around him. He touched an extraordinary number of lives, and his influence brought people from all walks of life together in solidarity and support. Though he is no longer with us, he leaves behind a monumental legacy in the form of the hearts he touched, and it is in these hearts that his spirit will live on.

Such a sweet kid, I enjoyed the time I got cut those beautiful locks of hair. Rest easy sweet boy.
Ezra’s light touched everyone he ever met, even if only once. He spent a day or two at work with his dad and our office was made lighter by his presence. His laughter and joyful spirit will forever be carried in my heart. My deepest sympathies go out to his mother and father during this unimaginable loss. I hope Ezra’s loved ones find strength and support in each other and of those around them and I hope that Ezra’s memory brings some comfort and peace to our broken hearts. ❤️
I’m truly sorry you have to go through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you
My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to the family, May the scripture at John 5:28,29a bring comfort because it tells us that there is going to be a resurrection.
I love you Ezra my “beautiful boy” to infinity and beyond. Our love will never cease. I carry you with me in my heart. I am blessed to be your mother.

I am incredibly saddened by this loss. I met Ezra once and knew right away that he was a really cool kid. My condolences and hugs to his family and friends. Sending thoughts of comfort and peace your way.
Ezra, an incredible handsome, young man, lovable, brave, dashing , love of Asian food and hot chilies . I would often tell him how he was like his grandmother Olivia who had the same taste , however he had so many beautiful qualities from his loving family . Especially when he would say his mother is sweet as sugar and often say i love you mom and dad and they often told him the same. I look forward to the day he will open his arm and give me a big hug again . Revelation 21:4 no more pain or sorrow or death the former things has pass away; love you mihijo Tia, Ronnie
I had the pleasure of caring for Ezra in 2011-2012, and have so many fond memories of him! Sitting on his hospital bed playing Bob the builders brother on a snow mobile. One of my favorite patients, I always told dad that if Ezra ever disappeared from the hospital it was because I took him home with me. (So he would know where to look.) 😉 Praying for peace and comfort for your family, and sending my love to the wonderful young man Ezra became.
I always looked forward to seeing Ezra when he came around to CA7 at PCH. I’ll miss his strong personality and quippy conversation, and I’ll carry those memories with me forever. It was a pleasure to be a part of his journey, brief as my part was.
Ezra will be so missed! He was such a unique and memorable individual. He had uplifting words for everyone around him. He made such an impression on me when he visited in the playroom at the hospital. He will always be remembered as such a sweet and sensitive young man. He faced his challenges with courage and vulnerability. It was an honor to meet him. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
My son and I knew Ezra for over 5 or 6 years and we definitely had good times together at the different places we went in to and whenever we would stop by to visit. I especially liked his sense of humor and how silly he would get sometimes. We miss his now and always. Thank you Ezra for being part of our lives and allowing us to be part of yours. Much love to you in spirit and to your family still with us on this earth.
I only met Ezra once that I can remember, I went with him and his dad to Temple. That’s the one and only time I’ve ever been, as I am a gentile and a Christian. I was taking a religious history class at Asu at the time, and needed to go observe a religious service different than my own experiences. I’d always had an interest in Judaism, and decided to go to Temple. Ken was willing to go with me, and ask if it was OK to bring Ezra along. I definitely wasn’t going to say no, and I’m sure glad I didn’t.I believe he was about eight at the time. I remember him as a very sweet and helpful young man, much like his dad. Praying that God will send comfort and healing to all of you who knew and loved him. Remember, his spirit will always be with you. Take care, and God bless all of you.
Ezra has been in my thoughts and heart all week. Know I have been thinking of you both with the fondest of memories!! Please take care and know you and Ezra will always be in my heart!!! ❤️
Love you, Ez. Most bravest and precious boy. Love you Carla. Love you, my beloved Kenneth.
Ezra, a fine young man with a big heart of Gold. The little memories I have of you will always be kept close to my heart. My condolences cousin Carla and to Ken.
Ezra you will be missed .I too will always remember you in heart ,memory and in meals with the Ezra bite.
I am so sorry for your loss. Ezra will be missed dearly. Ezra was such a genius when it came to math. He would answer problems without ever writing things down. He always made me laugh in class, with his smart wit, and stories. I was never sure what topic he would come up with during class but we always had to take a side trip down the road on something other than math. Food was always somehow put into our conversation! This always had to happen before we could get down to the meat and potatoes of math. I
Although brief, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to care for Ezra on CA7. He was often cracking jokes, and almost always had his earbuds in (and therefore couldn’t hear me talking to him, haha). I will hold these memories with me. Thank you for trusting us on CA7 to care for Ezra. Sending my greatest condolences and prayers. Much love.
