Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday morning, March 25th 2025. Born December 27th 1946 and is survived by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Robert, her daughter Lisa, son Andrew, daughter-in-law Tracey, grandchildren Allison and Nathaniel, and her brother Darol. She will be laid to rest June 3rd 2025
Dorene was born and raised in Seattle, WA, by her loving parents Cecil and Hattie, alongside her siblings David, JoAnn, and Darol. She met the love of her life, Robert, when they were just 18 and 20 years old. Their marriage was a powerful partnership built on love, Christian faith, humor, and shared purpose. Together, they built not only a family, but a life full of rich experiences such as creating and running multiple businesses, boat racing, camping trips, travel, hosting fun and meaningful family events, a home welcome to all, and creative ventures that reflected their passion for life.
Dorene was a radiant soul…wildly talented, fiercely loving, and deeply faithful. With a genius IQ and an unmatched emotional intelligence, she had a way of making everyone feel seen, supported, and celebrated. She had a joy-filled laugh, a clever sense of humor, and an adventurous spirit that made every holiday brighter, every moment more meaningful. As a wife and mother she was abundantly loving, tender and nurturing. She was always present for her children and loved her roles as soccer mom, Campfire Girls leader, and creative, crafty, cookie-baking loving grandma. For her husband she was everything a man needed in his corner to succeed and know he was loved and supported. He was her biggest crush and the love of her life.
She was an artist in the truest sense…whether through her gorgeous hand-crafting, sewing, cooking, gardening, or decorating, she created beauty everywhere she went. An expert bookkeeper and problem-solver, she worked tirelessly behind the scenes, helping others shine while never asking for the spotlight herself.
Even in the face of multiple chronic illnesses, Dorene remained a beacon of optimism. Her strength was quiet but powerful. Her resilience, inspiring. She never stopped believing in healing, and she never stopped living with joy.
Dorene’s love extended beyond her family. She was a cheerleader for everyone in her life, making space without judgment and giving without condition. To know her was to be loved deeply and wholly.
She often signed her letters, “Joy-full Me”…and that’s exactly how she’ll be remembered.
Condolences
