David Zakutny, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at the golf course, a place he loved on November 23, 2021.

Dave was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. He was a beloved husband, a dad to his two cats Ella and Rex, a brother, uncle and friend to many. He cherished his family and friends. Dave left an indelible mark on everyone he met with his sarcasm, dry sense of humor, compassion, generosity and kind heart. All that knew him loved him.

After graduating college, he worked in the Lender Servicing industry his entire career, retiring in 2019. Always a stylish dresser, Dave was an avid golfer, reader, loved history especially military history and enjoyed an occasional cigar – he lived life to the fullest. He met his wife who adored him in college and they were married for 38 years. They lived in several different states during their time together most recently moving to Arizona so he could enjoy retirement and play golf year round. Dave always made lifelong friends and created treasured memories everywhere he lived. He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Judy Zakutny, brother Michael Zakutny (Mary), sisters Cathy Rathwell and Shelley Calhoun (David), 4 nieces, 5 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Merle Zakutny, mother Jeannine Zakutny, a brother-in-law Chip Rathwell and beloved pets, Scooter, Bailey and Baxter.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Gilbert Memorial Park 2100 E. Queen Creek Rd. on December 9, 2021, beginning at 1pm followed by a reception at Seville Golf & Country Club 6683 S Clubhouse Dr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Prairie Paws Animal Shelter, Ottawa, KS https://prairiepaws.org/.

  • So sorry to hear this. Dave was one of a handful of people I met working in Golf over the years that I considered a friend. He was always a joy to be around.

  • What a man, what a friend!! My soul has a hole in it Thank God it can be slowly filled with the joy/memories this man has given me. RIP MY BROTHER

  • We wish we could hear your laugh and see your smile, those memories will be with us forever. We wish we could play a round of golf one more time and we would cherish it so much. I know you walk beside us everyday…… love and miss you so much my sweet brother in law.

  • I had the honor of helping Dave and Judy with their AZ home remodel and found him to be one of the kindest, most generous and patient men. He absolutely adored his wife, wanted their home to be so very special and poured us wine while we discussed rug colors in detail. I am going to miss the opportunity to spend more time with him. Prayers for you, Judy.

  • Judy, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Lean on friends and family…and if you need anything, don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Judy,

I’m so sorry for you loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

  • I can still hear Dave calling me “Jefe” which he did a lot. He was always a kind man to me and my family. Especially when no one knew about it. Prayers to Judy and the family.

  • I lost a dear friend and my heart is broken for you Judy. Many, many members of the Falcon Lakes Golf Club have expressed their shock that Dave departed way too early in life, the loss of a friend who made the clubhouse atmosphere so much better every day he was there, and the thanks for the memories we will hold for a long time. You will be missed my brother but never forgotten.

Judy and family, we were so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Even though we have only been neighbors part time these past few years we always knew that Dave watched out for things. Such a sweet man and we regret that we never were able to play around of golf with Dave. Our prayers are with you and please know we are here if you need anything. I know Dave has his arms around all his family during this time and checking out those “heavenly courses”.
