About David Miles Beeson
David Miles Beeson was born on July 22, 1955, to Myron ("Bud") and Helen Joye Beeson in Layton, Utah. He passed away on August 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of family after a courageous six-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). While the disease challenged his body, it never diminished the kindness, generosity, humor, and love that defined who Dave was. His quiet strength, unwavering spirit, and deep love for others were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Dave had a gift for making people feel seen and cared for. He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor or a stranger in need and never passed up an opportunity to give to others. Whether offering help to someone on a street corner or stopping at a child's lemonade stand, Dave found joy in lifting people up. The children running those stands quickly learned that a cup of lemonade was worth far more in Dave's eyes than the price on the sign. He believed in encouraging others, celebrating effort, and showing kindness in ways both big and small. Those quiet acts of generosity became one of the hallmarks of his life.
Dave also had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing smiles to those around him. Even during the challenges of his illness, his wit, laughter, and ability to find joy in everyday moments remained a treasured part of who he was. He reminded those around him that kindness and a good laugh could brighten even the hardest days.
An avid cyclist, Dave spent countless hours on the open road and rode hundreds of miles in support of charitable causes. His love of bicycles extended far beyond his own rides. Every Christmas, he quietly gifted bicycles to children, helping make the holiday magical for countless families. He believed every child deserved the joy and freedom that came with riding a bike, and there was no greater reward than knowing he had brought a smile to a child's face.
Dave also found happiness in the kitchen, where he spent years perfecting pie recipes of every kind. Family and friends were always willing taste-testers, though Dave would be the first to admit that no matter how hard he tried, he could never quite recreate the perfection of his mother's secret cherry pie. When he wasn't baking, he could often be found at an easel, expressing his creativity through oil painting and capturing the beauty he saw in the world around him.
More than any hobby or accomplishment, Dave's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He treasured time spent together, whether gathered around the dinner table, celebrating life's milestones, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company. His love for his family was constant, steadfast, and unconditional.
Dave is survived by his wife, Jill; children, Rian (Teresa Wilkins) Beeson, Brittany (Corey) Burnett, Jason (Shaeli) Beeson, Breanne Beeson, Taylor Joye (Brian Venti) Beeson, Annie Hitesman and her husband, Mike Randsdell; brothers, Wayne Beeson and Sam (Ginger) Beeson; sister, Amelia (Michael) O'Brian; mother-in-law, Dortha McStay; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and another on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron ("Bud") and Helen Beeson; his father-in-law, Robert McStay; his stepson, Adam Hitesman; and his sister-in-law, Vickie Beeson.
The measure of Dave's life is not found in the miles he rode, the paintings he created, or even the pies he baked. It is found in the people he loved, the kindness he shared, and the countless lives he touched along the way. His legacy lives on in every act of generosity inspired by his example, in every child who experienced the joy of a Christmas bicycle, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
The world is a little kinder because Dave was in it. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love, generosity, humor, and gentle spirit will continue to live on through the family he cherished, the friends he inspired, and the many lives he quietly changed.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at a later date.
