Christopher J. Mercer, 54, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025. Born in Arcadia, California, Chris was a dedicated husband, father, and loving son who was deeply committed to his family.
Raised in Southern California, Chris pursued his education at UC San Diego, his early fascination with the stock market began in high school reading the Wall Street Journal with his dad. His career in finance started in in college when he began making cold calls for a brokerage, demonstrating the dedication and work ethic that would define his professional life. After college, Chris took a position on a trading desk relocating to Denver, Colorado. In 1994, a career opportunity brought him to Arizona, where he would build his life and family. Throughout his career, Chris remained passionate about the financial industry, finding fulfillment in his work.
Chris had a generous spirit and loved helping others by making meaningful connections. Whether in his professional network or personal relationships, he took joy in bringing people together and creating opportunities for others. Chris cultivated a vast network of friends from many facets of his life, reflecting his ability to form genuine relationships wherever his journey took him. His wit and friendship will be missed my many.
Chris had a creative side that complemented his analytical mind. He loved writing and sharing political blogs, he explored his passion for science fiction by writing short stories and even got an opportunity to pitch a Star Trek screenplay in his early days.
Beyond his professional achievements and creative pursuits, Chris’s greatest passion was his children’s soccer. He was a constant presence on the sidelines, never missing a single game. His involvement went far beyond being a supportive parent—he coached, managed teams, contributed to soccer club operations and high school soccer programs. His dedication to youth athletics created lasting impacts on young players and families throughout the community.
Chris is survived by his wife, Kimberly Fladeland Mercer; his son, Grayson Mercer; his daughter, Ainsley Mercer; and his parents, Bill and Karen Mercer. His legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family and friends.
