Chinedu Umeozor

Chinedu Umeozor, 39, passed away after a long illness on July 2, 2022. He was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 29, 1983, and spent the rest of his childhood and young adulthood in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

He moved back to the States in 2011, where he obtained a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri. He moved to Arizona in 2014 to take up a position with Intel Corporation.

Chinedu loved the outdoors. He felt the world, and all of the beautiful things in it, was wasted if not explored. He went through his life that way, always hungry and eager to expand his horizons. Above all, Chinedu was immeasurably kind, and had a heart brimming with love. And there is no doubt that he has left an indelible mark on every single one of us who are so fortunate as to have known him in his short time here with us.

Chinedu is survived by his beautiful daughter, Irene. By his wife, Kenechi. His parents, Christian and Susan, and his siblings, Ikenna, Obi and Ify. By his uncles and aunts, relatives, and friends here and back home in Nigeria. All of whom have been steadfast in their dedication to him and to his family in these trying times. For this, and for all Chinedu was, we are most grateful.

There will be a visitation in honor of Chinedu on Wednesday, July 13 at the Red Mountain Funeral Home in Mesa, Arizona, from 5 – 7 PM. This will be followed by the Funeral Mass at Saint Mary Magdalene Church on Thursday, July 14 at 11 AM. The burial will take place thereafter at Gilbert Memorial Park Cemetery.
