Carolyn M. Stepp

On Friday, February 18, 2022, @ 1:36 am, Carolyn Maria Stepp, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and devoted friend to many, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler, Arizona, after enduring a sudden stroke at the tender age of 70. Carolyn was only nine days away from celebrating her 71^st birthday. Born on February 27, 1951, Carolyn was raised in San Francisco, California, by her beloved parents, Joseph and Vera Allen. Carolyn graduated from Presentation High School. Shortly after met and married Glenn Stepp Sr and had one son, Glenn Stepp Jr. They lived in a charming coastal town of Pacifica, California, until they divorced in 1994. Carolyn remained in Pacifica until 2021.

In her early years, Carolyn’s hobbies included home decorating, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. She was the life of any party, loved music & dancing, and had a fantastic sense of humor. Her passion for fitness led her to teach an exercise program in the mid-’80s on a local public channel. She later would open a gym in (Rockaway) named Rock n’ Fit. She was our little firecracker!

In October 2021, Carolyn moved from California to Arizona to be closer to her son and family. Although she was a native Californian for 70 years, she embraced the idea to move with excitement and joy. Carolyn loved living in Arizona. She enjoyed her new residence at Quail Park Morrison Ranch, only 5 minutes away from her son’s home. They offered her fun activities, shopping trips, and holiday celebrations. She quickly made friends with residents and staff. Even though she was only with her family for five short months, she spent all the holidays with her son, daughter-in-law, and energetic grandsons, who undoubtedly gave her hours of entertainment while they played together. She also enjoyed golf cart rides around the neighborhood and family night dinners at her favorite Café, Brewery, the Four Silos.

Carolyn leaves behind her loving son Glenn (Anna) Stepp, two grandsons; Chase and Colton, a brother Robert (Lynda) Allen, sister Patricia (Tom) Hartman, sisters-in-law Lesly (Tom) Hargens, Nancy (Bob) Mike, brother-in-law Russell (Lisa) Stepp, nephews Jason (Christine) Allen, Adam (Eunice) Hartman, Joe (Leah) Hartman, Steven Mike, Tommy Hargens, Christopher Hargens, Michael Stepp, John Stepp and nieces Corinne Allen and Lauren Mike. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph J. Allen and Vera A. Allen, brother, Joseph J. Allen Jr., and ex-spouse, Glenn A. Stepp Sr.

Her family would like to thank the residents and staff of Quail Park at Morrison Ranch for the loving support and care given to her during her stay with them. They would also like to thank the compassionate staff at Hospice of the Valley for ensuring her passing was done in a comfortable and warm environment.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 1 pm (MST) at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297. In place of flowers, the family requests donations to Arizona Heart Foundation at Home – Arizona Heart Foundation (azheartfoundation.org)
