A Life of Love, Dedication, and Grace – Betty Jean Pimentel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Jean Pimentel, a cherished soul who left this world surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Betty Jean, a beacon of kindness and strength, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and laughter.

She will be lovingly remembered for her boundless generosity, her infectious smile, and her ability to make everyone feel special. Betty Jean had a natural talent for playing sports and shared her passion for golf, pickleball, bocce ball, softball, cycling, clogging, and line dancing. She had an innate talent for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories, and her vibrant spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Betty shared her passion for music throughout her life. A former marching band saxophone player, she was the master of ceremony for monthly karaoke events. She organized an annual event at Sun City Anthem, Voices of Christmas, where admission was a toy for a child, distributed by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to needy children throughout the county.

Betty was an early adapter to Sun City Anthem Theatrical Society (SCATS). She acted, danced and sang (especially parodies of well-known songs). She volunteered to organize our Veterans Day breakfast and directed other volunteers to feed the many Veterans and their families.

Betty Jean was personally touched by cancer and organized “We Walk for a Cure,” a robust event at Sun City Anthem that involved hundreds of residents and volunteers, as well as community leaders and commercial business support.

Betty Jean is survived by her loving family, her partner Kathleen Doherty, nieces Diana Pimentel-Burton and Denise Hall, nephew Todd Pimentel, and a plethora of friends. They mourn her loss along with seven great-nephews, one great-niece, and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends who will carry her memory as a source of inspiration and strength. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly through the lessons she imparted and the lives she enriched.

A celebration of Betty life will be held at Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch Ballroom on June 22, 2025, at 2 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center, reflecting Betty Jean’s lifelong passion for helping others.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Betty Jean. Your life was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing you.

Betty truly was a beacon to all who met her. Her ability to always “be there” for her friends was a talent not many have. Altho we never met any of her family members, in conversations, it was obvious she loved them all. We very much enjoyed getting together with Betty and Kathleen. She was a beautiful soul the world could certainly use more Betty’s. She will be in our hearts forever.
